Bio

Chaddy Dean Smith

I am a Photographer with over 20 years of experience in commercial and fine art photography.  I currently teach photography at the university level.

My photography has been exhibited and collected nationally, including the Southeast Museum of Photography, Daytona Beach, FL and I have been awarded grants and honors for my photography.  In addition, I have worked professionally in video production and as a freelance commercial photographer for a range of corporate and educational clients.

My work as an artist has many focuses, from B&W landscapes using the triptych as a means of telling a story about the land and culture, to a collaborative project that dealt with family-owned businesses. Most recently I have worked on projects photographing individuals with a pinhole camera and an abstract color series using toy cameras in the vein of Aaron Siskind’s “peeling paint” images.

I have a great devotion and passion for Photography with it being the most rewarding thing I have ever done. Also, I find the interaction with other photographers and getting to know other artists in all disciplines very satisfying and educational.

I hope that  you will find the time to look through the four portfolios of selective work.  If you have any questions or comments please feel free to email me at the address in my contact info selection.
